If you do a google search of a technique referred to as valsalva maneuver you may understand better why your heart beat skips when it does. Just another thought that came to my mind.  Take care, Ally

the only problem is that i have been suffering frm inflammatory bowel disease since 10  years which has made my body extra sensitive (according to my EP).
I had all the tests relating to heart done and were normal. due to IBD there are some imbalance of nutrients but nothing serious

No one can make a diagnosis based on just episodes that may be medically significant or not.  It would require a professional workup, with blood tests to determine if there is an elctrolytic imbalance, know medical history, any concomitant health issues, etc. and if you are concerned you may want to have a medical exam....not possible for a reliable opinion from a source other than your doctor.  Take care

is it possible that these skips are normal variations and not premature beats???????

On the surface of your question, it appears that a lack of oxygen is causing your heart beat to re-establish a normal pattern. More likely what is happening is resetting the electrical system when you are holding your breath. When holding your breath and then correct heart rhythm may be your system's response by triggering a corrective pattern when it recognizes an abnormal rhythm.

Thanks for your question,
