I am almost finished with my pneumonia medication and my chest still hurts, is this just irritation of my lungs from both cases of pneumonia.
Just to let you know its not Marfans, i actually got pneumonia AGAIN...
My doctor thought my chest pains were all in my head and thought that I was having panic attacks,
But monday night I woke up with a really sharp pain in my chest and I went to the ER. And a CAT scan later they said I got pneumonia again and I stood in the hospital for the day.
Now I'm on bed rest and pills.
Sudden cardiac death can occur, but understand that is extremely rare! I wouldn't waste my time worrying about that. See the geneticist and see where you go from there.
Alright, I went to the doctor on I think it was friday and she made me an appointment with a geneticist because even though she checked me with a telescope and my vitals were normal it still might be that.
And now I'm worried about my overall health because I read that sudden death could occur and I'm shitting it, for lack of a better term.
Is Marfan's Syndrome dangerous?
You may still be recovering from the pneumonia but it's been quite awhile. Panic attacks will cause the heart rhythm to go out of whack a bit. But if your doctor is willing, it wouldn't hurt to wear a Holter monitor for a day or two and record your heart's activity. The quick 10 second EKG they do in office may not pick up anything. A monitor would let your doctor know if there's something more that should be checked out.
If it's any consolation, I've had weird heart rhythms all my life (I'm 56) and I'm doing fine. And many people have skipped beats now and then and although it's annoying, there's no danger in most cases.
You have written on here before. The ONLY reason that I would suggest you see a cardiologist is to make sure you do not have Marfan's Syndrome, I am saying that ONLY because you are tall and it is better to be safe than sorry. Some kids do have heart disease; they have had it since birth and it is called Congenital Heart Disease, having said that, they also know they have heart disease. There is a saying that is basically taught to new pediatricians and it goes something like this: "Listen to the mother, she KNOWS her child better than you do!!" Your mother has good instincts about you and your health.
