Late Angioplasty

My father, now aged 71 years, suffered a heart attack 3 years ago. Upon Angiography, it was detected that he has 90% blockade in 1 artery and other 2 arterries were perfectly okay.My father insisted not to have angioplasty and is on drug therapy. Since 2 weeks he is feeling heavyness in chest. His cardiologist advised him to go for angioplast.

Will it be effective now  3 years after he suffered the attack. Is there any risk involved?

Please advise.
Regards, peeyush

R-A-O is spot on and anything above 70% is seen as serious. 90% is a disaster waiting to happen. For just a short period of time in the lab and virtually instant recover, it is well worth the low risk. He should feel great afterwards if his other arteries are ok and there is just the one blockage.

I just thought of this, why do you call this thread "LATE" angioplasty?  If you are thinking Late as in his age, he's still plenty young, My Mom was 71 or 2 when she got hers and if need be she said she would have no problem getting another at her current age of 76.

90% says very soon it'll be 100%!  Once that happens there is no blood flow to that part of the heart effectively killing that section.  He will feel thousands of times better if he has the procedure!!  and will live longer!!!
