The doctors are not sure what exactly happened. They think the combination of my SVT, post C-section and being in a state that my blood clots fast which is normal after surgery/pregnancy. I never had cardiomypathy ...and after many echos my EF is normal!!! (thank goodness) I was just wondering if anyone had this to happen to them?? But it sounds that many of us have had similar situations.....guess it would be related to pregnancy. Now I know that being pregnant just isn't something easy as having a baby!! Hope everyone is doing well.....I just look at every day as one to be thankful for!!
After the birth of my son almost 7 yrs ago, I had peripatum cardiomypathy and was in CHF. My EF was 20%. While on the CCU I had a stroke. Because I already ad a blood clotting disorder(APS) and the stroke, I am on coumdin for life. My EF is about 45% today and I am still on all my meds, incuding the coumadin. They never did find a direct reason for the stroke..It could have been from the emergency c-sect, the APS, or the pooling blood in my heart. We never did find out why..better to just move on.
If you would like to e-mail me pls let me know.(it's my name is listed below and I have a yahoo account)

Have they ruled out the cause of the stroke as embolic? A-fib can cause clot formation in the left atrium (I suspect you know this already)...what i found to be interesting in the last discussion i had with a cardiologist is that it is not A-fib that will cause the clot to break loose and travel, but actually the flip-flopping back and forth from A-fib to NSR that will do it...usually the forceful contraction when the heart spontaneously converts back to NSR. You see this in people with PAF who go back and forth a lot.
Good luck with your ablation. I hope it is successful, and you can get on with your life and your child!

There is someone here who had a stroke post partum. I have her email and will send her a note to have her check in with your post.
I had a cardiomyopathy post partum - dx Dec 05 (so did Amy) and I had a probable PE, lots of other muscle weakness and organ probs led to a myositis of some sort, as the working diagnosis. Its been a long road to recovery for me and I am still not yet there, but am way better than I was. Our third and last child has just turned 17mths old.
Hope you feel better really soon. I will email Amy now.
