Will bp meds also lower pulse?

My dr put me on Benicar 20mg and Toprol XL 25mg to lower my blood pressure.  I have a fast pulse too (always over 100).  Will these meds lower my pulse also?

Toprol (metoprolol succinate) is a beta blocker and can lower your heart rate

No, they won't.  You need to see a cardiologist and determine what is causing such a high pulse.

I've been on Benicar HCT 40/12.5 for years, it does a great job on my BP, down from 140/90 to my current 90 day average of 106/65, however it has no effect on heart rate. You could take a beta blocker, they will lower your HP, partly by lowering your heart rate but they may make you feel excessively fatigued.
