Worried about this sensation

Hello. I'm 21 years old and I've been having palpitations for about a month now. I went to the doctor and she said she's going to put me on a Holter for 30 days. I'm so worried. I'm having chest pains on somedays and sometimes I'm having difficulty breathing and a lot of mucus. Could this be due to weight or should I be worried. I don't smoke, or do drugs. I drink rarely. And I went to the school doctor for this and was given Amoxicillan for Bronchitis, but it still hasnt gone away. Anyone else have these symptoms. I'm really afraid. Could someone tell me what this might be?

The holter will likely provide you with the answer as to what the palpitations are.

You mentioned not being able to breathe well and lots of mucous.  Have you been tested for asthma?

It can be tough to find asthma on a chest xray.  I would ask about getting a spirometry test.  It's an easy test and can diagnose asthma.

You would likely have to see an allergist or pulmonologist for this test.

Do you really think it's asthma? today I feel like my chest is painful to the touch in the center. Also, if it's asthma can the symptoms really come back day after day? I'm just really worried

If it's asthma, yes it can flare often if it's not treated.  Do you have allergies like hay fever?  Most asthmatics have allergies.

Try to get an appt. with your doctor while your symptomatic.  You'll get the best results from a spirometry test if you're experiencing symptoms at the time.

Asthma can be a pain but with a proper diagnosis and the right medications, it's very manageable.

Just take a word of advice.....don't try to self diagnose.  It's imperative that you get tested by a doctor so you know what you're dealing with.  Chances are, it isn't your heart since you are so young but it's always best to get a full medical evaluation just to be on the safe side.

Good luck
