breathing problems, will they show on an echocardiogram?

Hello, whenever I try to take a deep breath, i dont always get a full breath, my chest is tight and there are episodes (perhaps from anxiousness)when i cant get a full breath for a prolonged amount of time and even have to breath manually. I have palpatations and when i try to do physical things like sing, climb a long flight of stairs, jog, etc i get really short of breath and i feel my heart pounding. sometimes at night i wake up with shortness of breath and just try to relax myself until i fall asleep no matter how i try change my diet, i easily get bloated.

Im 25 years old, 6'0 140lbs. Right now my docs are naming anxiety/panic attacks as the culprit. I've had EKG, chest x-ray, and going next week for pulmonary and heart echo.

Under the above circumstances, with shortness of breath, tight chest, etc. would an echo still show normal results both during regular and stress test? in other words, if i am doing the treadmill test, but am having shortness of breath and have to stop, but its not related to my heart than my echo would show normal right?

thanks

stop worrying especially when everything will result normal in your tests. It happened to me when I was around 14 years old and lasted for 6 months until the doctor told me it was not dangerous and that it was anxiety. After that it stopped and at 15 years old, the opposite happened, I could not let a breath fully out and the doctor said the same thing that it was annoying but not dangerous and it was anxiety. It also stopped then. Stress is crazy and it will do all kinds of stuff to you.

I hope they do a pulmonary function test as well to check your lungs. I had one done years ago. I didn't notice any difference in the before and after portions of the test but they diagnosed me with asthma. Now I know when my asthma flares up. It does feel like my breath hits a brick wall inside, that I can't take a full breath. And yes, there's a tight feeling in there like sucking air through a straw.

Whatever is going on, I hope they can give you a definitive answer, not just "we think..."
