breathing problems after bypass

I am desperatly looking for answers.  I am 50 years old and an emergency triple by pass 7 weeks ago. I have most all the emotional problems that I have read, my biggest thing is the breathing.  I can't take deep breaths, I start to sneeze and it gets stuck and is painful.  I am not sure how to explain it. When I try to breath deep it goes right into my shoulder to my shoulder blade.  Feels like pluresy.  I live way up in the Adirondack Mtns and its below zero, and we burn wood.

My doctor says he will send my to a pulmanary specilalist as soon as I get some kind of insurance.

Has anybody else had a hard time with the breathing recovery?  I smoked 2 packs a day and quit a month before bypass.

This discussion is related to months after triple bypass.

I had a CABG done 4 months ago. After the surgery i was brathing very fast and couldnt take deep breaths. I had to stay 7 days in the INtensive care unit and then shifted to the ward. As the previous posting clearly stated, i had a Pneumonia infection ( with Psedunomos Bacteria) and had to stay inh the Hospital nearly 35 days, which otherwise would have been just 10 days. It is necessay that at CT scan of the lungs be done. As in my case the doctors could not figure out this through the X rays films. I suggsest you to consut a Chest specialist

Pneumonia  can set in if you are not doing your breathing exercises?  You could have developed pneumonia.  Burning wood also is very dirty and hard on the lungs.  Also, the cold air breathing through ones mouth, is hard on the lungs.  Chest is very painful after open heart surgery and takes time to get better.  Did they send you home with a pillow to hold against your chest when getting up or sitting up?  If you are extremely out of breath or out of breath more when trying to do something, you should get it checked.  Sometimes the bypasses do not heal in correctly and a stent needs to be placed to keep the artery open.  A new bypass that does not heal can disappear.  Symptoms are short of breath.
