hi, i am a 26 yr old female with 2 kids (youngest 6 mnnths) the only bad habit i have is i smoke about 20 a day.

this morning at 4am i was woken up by my heart racing and skipping beats racing skipping beats this went on for about 2 minutes i got up went the tolet checked my pulse went back to sleep, all day today i have been feeling kind of worried, i have also had abit of a tight chest and more palpitations but ive put down to anxiety.. im ok now sat here eating a trifle..

this has happened to me a few times in the past and i have had a few ekg's and i once wore a 24 hr holtor monitor.. all normal.. (surely any abnormal heart would of shown then?)

also yesterday i had a migraine?

my blood pressure is allways within the healthy normal range..

i have palpitations now and then anyway which i ignore, but getting woken up by a racing heart has scared me, scared me more now than ever..

a freind of mine who i told said a cardio told her brother who has a heart condition that it was normal to get palpitations..  it gets the heart back into rhythm?

any advice much appreciated..

thankyou

I've actually has this twice this week.  I worry that its A Fib or something like that.   I get the skipped beats too.  It could be anxiety or many other things.  Have you asked your Dr about a 30 day event monitor?  That may be a better way of catching something instead of hoping in happens in a 24 hr period.

Hope you do better tonight!

Donna, this is what has happened to me on 3 occasions. Twice I was awoked from sleep with a racing heart and skipping beats. It was incredibley scary. I ended up in the emergency room twice and called 911 once. Of course all is well again ( except for the fear ) by the time "help" arrives.

I also get skips occasionally throughout the day. Sometimes every day and sometimes I get a break for a week or two.

I was also a smoker. I stopped and get less skips but I still get them. I've had "all the tests" and every thing checks out normal . I suggest , if you haven't done so, to see your doctor as a precaution.
