heart attack?

I am a 47 year old female, family history of heart attack. I have been on bp meds for 5 years. I have not been feeling well for a few months. My BP fluctuates - it is better after taking my bp med Lysoprine. Last night I had a spell and my legs were shaky, clammy, sweaty, and nauseous. then I yawned uncontrollably for 10-15 minutes. My neck became sore and stiff. The feeling passed, but a Blood pressure check a couple of hours later revealed 180/109. I checked it 3 times. I had been lying in bed - so no reason for BP to be elevated. I've also had a headache for 3 days - but that went away when i had the spell. These spells are not unusual. My doctor thinks it's stress - but I've removed a major stessor in my life. I've never had any tests ran other than blood tests. Once my doctor mentioned chromophecytoma or something like that, but he said i would be sweating more - dripping with sweat. I'm worried and don't know at what point i would go to the ER.

For some insight:  It is a tumor that produces an excess of chemical compounds and can lead to persistent high blood pressure or wild fluctuations in your blood pressure, depending on whether the catecholamines are released continuously or in shorter bursts. The intermittent release of these hormones can cause other symptoms to occur from time to time as well. If that is the underlying cause probably the symptoms only occur occasionally.  You may get a more decisive opinion regarding the pheo......if the symptoms continue.

Pheochromocytoma - I had it spelled wrong.
The doctor said it was rare. I think symptoms have to be severe or lengthy before insurance will pay

I don't know what can be added to what the doctor has said.  You have serious symptoms, and you should get some clarification and proper treatment.  It may be a good idea to see another doctor. A word that ends with "oma" indicates a turmor...but that appears to be ruled out! I don't know nor can I find any definition for "chromophecytoma." or related spelling of the word..
