IF SOMEONE HAS AORTIC DISSECTION CAN THE SYMPTOMS COME AND GO

I READ ALL THESE SYMPTOMS OF AORTIC DISSECTION ON emedicine.com  AND THESE SYMPTOMS ARE THE SAME EXACT ONES THAT I GET WHEN I GO THROUGH THESE PERIODS OF GOD CRUSHING PAINS IN THE MIDDLE OF MY CHEST EVERY FEW WEEKS.IT ALWAYS STARTS WITH MY JUGULAR VAIN IN MY NECK PULSATING RIGHT BEFORE THE PAIN STARTS AND ALSO DURING IT AND THEN IT TRAVELS TO MY EAR. THE OTHER THING I GET AT TIMES IS BEING AWAKEN OUT OF A SOUND SLEEP BY THIS EXCRUCIATING PAIN I GET IN THE MIDDLE OF MY CHEST BUT CLOSER TO MY BREASTBONE/RIBCAGE (JUST IN THIS ONE SPOT) AND THE PAIN IS SO BAD THAT I CAN'T EVEN MOVE AND I HAVE TO TAKE SMALL SHALLOW BREATHS &IT FEELS LIKE SOMETHING IS JUST TEARING UP INSIDE & GOING TO JUST SNAP & BREAK.UNTIL I CAN GET MYSELF OUT OF BED AND IN THE STANDING UP POSITION IT DOES NOT GO AWAY. I FEEL LIKE A LOSER AS I TO GRAB ONTO MY HEADBOARD AND ROLL MYSELF OUT OF BED ALL WHILE I AM I THIS EXCRUCIATING PAIN..WHEN I GET UP AND MANAGE TO WALK AROUND IT PASSES EVENTUALLY BUT FOR THE NEXT FEW DAYS IT LEAVES A FEELING OF BEING BRUISED INSIDE. THIS IS A WEIRD THING BUT SO VERY TRUE & I AM WONDERING IF ANYONE HAS EVER HAD THIS BEFORE & THEIR SYMPTOMS AND DIAGNOSIS? I DON'T WANT TO SOUND LIKE I AM A WACKO HERE BUT I WOULD LOVE TO FIND OUT WHAT IT IS. I SPOKE TO A WOMAN IN HER 40'S WHO UNDERWENT CRUSHING PAINS IN HER CHEST AND HAD MANY EKG'S THAT CAME BACK NORMAL.ONE DAY SHE WENT TO THE ER FOR IT AND SHE SAT THERE FOR HOURS AND THEY TOLD HER IT WAS ANXIETY &2 DAYS LATER SHE HAD THE SAME THING AND HER CHILD CALLED AND AMBULANCE AND SHE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH HAVING A HEART ATTACK AND THEY SAID ANOTHER 20 MINS. SHE WOULD HAVE DIES. SHE HAD SURGERY &THEY PUT IN A STENT &EVER SINCE SHE HAS HAD NO CHEST PAINS BUT SHE SEES A CARDIO DR.REGULARLY.

The symptoms you could described could very well be angina due to coronary artery blockages. The heart muscle signals pain through "referred pain" meaning you can feel angina at several locations above your waist. In your back, shoulder, jaw, neck, left arm and of course your chest. You should have the latest non-invasive 64 slice coronary artery ct scan. I had one and it was 100% correct.

Have you had a blood test to see what your trop t levels are? I suffered similar pain but it was due to gallstones. You need to see a doctor and get a run of tests done in order to ascertain what is happening to you.

Hello,
I have this bad habit of writing in small caps but will try my best to do all small. A few times I have had a complete work up (blood test) as they called it plus I have even had a thyroid test done 2 times as 2 of my sisters have the one where they put on a lot of weight from it and all the other stuff that came with it but they said mine came back normal...I was at the dr. yesterday and she put me on some sort of medication for my blood and said it might cause my ankles to swell. This is for headaches as she said.. I inquired about the side effects saying I do not need to gain anymore weight and if my ankles will swell up that sounds like some sort of fluid retention type of medication to me. I had told her that I had just lost 10 pounds in 1 week and a half and I want to lose weight for my health instead of gaining ....Then she asked me if I was on a diet and I said no and she asked me how I lost the weight so fast.. To tell you the truth I was happy I lost weight and I want to lose more but she seemed disturbed about it saying that a fast weight loss is something they need to watch out for as I am a smoker. I asked her what she was trying to say and she said "testing me for lung cancer" and I am sure if I had cancer it would have showed up on some of my prior blood work... I am not gonna stress out over it cause weight loss will only help me to be healthier. I am a good 40 pounds overweight so let me lose the excess weight and maybe if I do then I will feel better. Anyhow thanks for your suggestion but I am curious as to if this test you are talking about is run in a regular total work up blood test??

Pollie,
It would be nice if you could write your messages in small caps. The large caps are hard to read and are not as good internet etiquette. Thanks. Be well.
