How do you evaluate my heart health and prognosis when my echocardiogram report says "mild concentric LVH" and also "mild sclerosis of MV" (no RWMA, normal LV/RV function, no ICM/PE). Have I to take any remedial medication or preventive steps. Please advise.
Well trained and conditioned athletes usually have concentric left ventricle hypertrophy. The left venticle wall is thicker and musclular and the condition provides stronger and more forceful contractions. Also the individuals have a heartbeat below 60 bpm at rest.
Pathological concentric LVH can be growth and thickening of the chamber's wall to the degree that wall thickness inhibits elasticity (stiffness) and growth crowds out blood filling with a reduction of inside capactiy. As a result less blood is pumped out with each stroke, and when serious it will cause heart failure.
Mild concentric LVH may be a normal condition for you and not very significant if asymptomatic and no other associated medical concerns.
