You were in ER and haven't been advised or seen by a cardiologist? There isn't much of anything you can do until you learn the underlying cause for your CHF and follow the doctor's instructions. You should be on some diuretic medication and take aspirin (recommended for all CHF patients). Keep us informed of the results of your doctor's visit.
I got this diagnosis yesterday in the local emergency room and will see my cardiologist in the big city tomorrow.In the meantime,what are my options? Thanks for your help .
Congested heart failure is the inability of the heart to adequately pump enough blood into the system to meet the blood/oxygen demand. Almost always the underlying cause is a weak heart due to heart muscle disorder, and blood received from lungs is not able to be pumped into circulation then backs up into the lungs causing congestion (lung edema).
