Nervousness and MVP should not, to my knowledge, affect your ejection fraction.
Try to be reassured instead of worrying that something is wrong. You have very good numbers by echo- normal numbers. I DO have hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and I can guarantee you that the ejection fraction is never even mentioned when I (frequently) see my doctor. Although it is high, it is absolutely NOT the number used for diagnosis. The indicators are thickened interventricular septum, SAM (systolic anterior motion) which would definitely have been mentioned on your echo report if you had it, LVOT (left ventricular outflow tract gradient) gradient (again, would have been mentioned), and posterior wall thickening. I believe that if you are smaller than average or have a smaller heart than average, your EF MAY show up as higher than average when it actually is normal for you.
thanks sugarcane....my beats per minute during my echo was 96 so I thought this may have affected the EF....because I know physical exercise causes it to rise..even though I know this was just emotional stress....SAM you mentioned is this what the IVSs and IVSd are on the echo....my IVSs was 1.4 and my IVSd was 1.0? Do you know if this is normal?
As far as I can see, your echo suggests NOTHING that you should worry about. As the doctor stated on the MD forum, your elevated EF is most likely from anxiety. SAM is systolic anterior motion. It is consisternt with Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Your numbers on echo in no way indicate hypertrophic cardiomyopathy SAM is not the same as the septal measurement (IVSs or IVSd). It is not MVP. Anxiety can certainly cause the dizziness you have been experiencing. Please try to relax and be happy that your echo is NORMAL. Good luck.
thanks sugarcane for the advice!
