Lisinopril Side Effects

Hello I am a 24 yo Male, 6'00" 220lbs with borderline HTN which my PCP said to be a combination of being overweight and anxiety, I was placed on lisinopril 5mg 1x daily and xanax 0.25mg 3x daily, until I lose 20lbs. the 5mg of lisinopril helped with the BP, but 3 days into taking the Medication I started getting muscle aches. I went to my PCP and he said it was not likely lisinopril so he gave me flexeril for the muscle aches. He also raised my lisinopril to 10mg even though the 5mg had been doing the job as my BP had gone down from 139/89~ to 131/84. Now that I am taking 10mg lisinopril It feels like I have the Flu (aches, pains, chills) ,and my throat gets really sore. these effects last about 22 hours and subside just before the next dose, and then come again about an hour after I take lisinopril would it be safe to switch back to 5mg as the effects are less severe or should I talk to my PCP about a different BP med.

A BP of 131/84 is still high! and the reason why upping the dose of Lisinopril.  You could stop the medication like BlueYankee suggested but you would more than likely take that at a higher dose along with many other medications after your heart attack or other organ failure.

The side effects of lisinopril I don't think include any of the problems you say you have.

Its been a while but you dont have to do what I do.Actually while being treated for my
heart valve, which had been bad since 2000.The physician and Cardiologist both gave me
so many medicines which always caused me great problems and sick all the time.Alwa
ys sleepy when driving, and not either one would listen as they said I needed the medicin
e.    Thus eventually,I just did my own thing and dropped almost all my medicines and al
so the medicine was so high in price,so it all worked out.I began feeling better and still f
eel that the medicine and the doctors were my greatest problem.Once they were on the
money, but as my medicare began to pay less, the doctors seemed to take longer to
treat me,or almost not at all. So I was feeling better, still had the problems but live-able
and the high price of medicine also seemed to make me calmer not having to pay them
anymore. The doctors didnt like it,but they werent helping me feel better, and coulbnt be
lieve I was feeling better on my own.  Not great advice, but some doctors are not a match
for all people,Find a doctor who cares about you,and you may feel better.
