ocular migrain and heart

5 years ago I kept getting occular migrains,  after I had a stent put in for a 95% blockage in my LAD they went away.   Just yesterday I got another occular migrain, could this be an indication that I may have another blockage?

A few years ago, I was getting occular migraines, but they eventually went away.

Right after I had an ablation, the occular migraines returned and the doctor felt it could be a result of stopping a beta blocker.  Again, they stopped after a few weeks.  I didn't have any from that time until I tried taking another medication.  I stopped the medication, and the migraines disappeared....Any chance that a medication has been changed, and that it may be causing the migraines?

Just curious, do you also get the headaches?  I consider myself fortunate in that I only experienced the auras.

I just get the Auras also, My meds have not changed at all,  although I think I may be under a little stress now and that could be causing it.  Thanks for your reply

I had ocular migraines (beginning 1999) until they put 3 stents in my LAD (2007).  I haven't had any since.  You would have a hard time convincing me they are not related although doctors have told me they are not.  But I have also read that some believe it is due to a restriction in blood flow.  Are you having any other symptoms that you had before as well such as chest pain, arm pain, jaw pain, etc?  Certainly if you are having other symptoms as well go in.  I made sure my cardiologist knew about the ocular migraines and the fact they went away.

The LAD is one of your coronary arteries (provides blood flow to your heart).  I think it stands for Left Anterior Descending artery.

I was diagnosed with ocular migraines at 32 prior to having a stoke caused by a large PFO.  Once the PFO was closed, I never had another ocular migraine.  My cardiogists never linked the two together, however I believe they were.  I should also mention, at the time I had the stroke, I was also diagnosed with other congential heart defects and was monitored and on medication.

Oh this is interesting.  I started having ocular migraines while on chemo...they went away after about a year and a half after treatment ended.  I had them again around the time I was diagnosed with CHF...but they did not persist.  I can't remember when exactly they stopped again.  My opthamologist was not overly concerned at either point...we were just glad I don't have the pain.

I have occular migrains for at least 5 years. The zig-zag type.
Now,  recently I have had in the last 6 mos. 4 episodes of a curtain effect. That is where it seems that a curtain is being pulled down in front of my eyes. Noticed today that it was only in one eye. I work for an optomertrist and as this was just going away she looked into my eye and saw nothing wrong with retina. What could this be?
