Hi Michelle,

Good news for the little guy!  Hopefully, this will give him (and you) some relief.

They may have said an "electrophysiology study."  That's where they insert a catheter into the vein (or artery, depends) and try to stimulate the heart's electrical activity.  They can watch how he reacts to different heart rates (like tachycardia).

Have a safe trip and be sure to let us know how you guys are doing.

the only real concern his cardiologist has is he has shunting going on through his very tiny pinhole of PFO(patent Foreamen Ovale) and he said this could cause a blood clot is areas of his bodt you don't really want them there. (not that I really want to have a blood clot in my body) he said that they normally don't mess around with a PFO of this size. he will go down to Bostons Children on Monday (he has to go there for a proceedure on one of his patients) and talk with them down there about Cree Cree they might want to do a cardiac cath and fix it and they might do an electrophysio something else was said but I can't remember. where they put some dye into his cath and try to get his heart to do funky things. (not sure I really like that  but if it has to be done then it has to be done.) I have always said that I am going to loose him and his cardilogist has always said no you won't after telling him everything yesterday, i kept repeating that I was maybe 3 times he didn't say a word and right before I left he grabbed my arm and said that anyone watching him and caring for him better be CPR trainned.

I am so glad that things are FINALLY coming together for you and your son.  I wish your family the best and my prayers will be with you all.  I have a 19 month old and I could not imagine going through all of this.  I am glad that they are finally listening to you.  Good luck to you and your family!!

That's great news. I wonder how they keep his little arm down while the incision heals? But he's been through so much already I'm sure he'll just take it like the trooper he is. Let us know how it goes and how he responds. When do you all go in?

Thank heaven he finally listened to you!  Now at least you will have access to another cardiologist, albeit in another state!

I have worked in pedi heart surgery but it has been a  long time ago.  My guess would be that he would only be in a couple of days, unless they have plans for a more thorough evaluation, which might be likely.  Kids bounce back quickly, typically.  We would have some that had simple open heart surgery and would be happily playing in their crib in 2 days, asking for soda!  Normally a pacemaker insertion is not a big deal.  I think your son's situation is kinda complex, so your mileage may vary.  Good luck to you and I hope he thrives!
