Long term pacing on the right ventricle can cause heart failure too. My pacemaker can pace out of A-Fib or SVT. It also can back up my Sick Sinus Syndrome so I don't have to take medication. I think my A-Fib was induced by my pacemaker. Sound good? Here is the supporting forum, I'm afraid I can't tell too much negative things here. Take care.
Hi Rachel,
I don't understand when you say the meds don't seem to help - but they talk about a pacemaker. I always thought that they slow your heart rate down with 'meds' and then they use the pacemaker to speed it up. I don't have a-fib - but I do have a pacemaker and of course I'd rather not have it - I mean its a great device - but they are only capable of doing so much and at 21 - I'm not sure its what you want. Technology is great and I know they are doing alot of research on a-fib. Maybe in a couple years they'll have better technology. I certainly think they've come a long way in treating a-fib from years ago. I guess only you know your situation. Good Luck
