I was your age and parked myself in front of my (still) pediatrcian's office in the pre dawn hours, until he came in.....I had bad chest pain, thought I was going to die.....had irregular heart beats, couldn't breathe, had been up ALL night cramming for exams and drinking black coffee, because I HAD to get into an Ivy League school or kill myself..............had just finished a county basketball playoff and was trying out for track ..................the good doctor gave me a script for percocet....said it  was most likely muscular from basketball, or might be "nerves" but either way the percs would help.................and they DID.  It was great!  Good luck.

Hi,
Anxiety and panic attacks are very common in today's 17 year olds. Unless you are morbidly obese your chances of having a heart attack at your age is slim to none. The symptoms you describe are that of heart attacks but they are more commonly the symptoms of anxiety. There are heart diseases that cause sudden death in young people but the symptoms usually come on very suddenly and involve fainting or near fainting not heart attack symptoms. I would suggest that you go to a doctor get a thorough checkup and ask for an antidepressant used for anxiety. There is no reason that someone your age should be worrying about health issues. My heart goes out to you. I have an 18 year old daughter that went through a similar situation last year and is now on treatment and is doing great! I had similar experiences when I was younger too.
Do whatever it takes to go see a doctor and find a solution for yourself before the anxiety gets too much out of control.
Good Luck

It is not anywhere near "the next best thing to a doctor".  This board is used by people who might have had something similar to what you think you may be feeling.  Not a single poster on here is qualified to diagnosis you.  They can advise, suggest or sympathize but that is all they can do. My advice:  Joey buddy, you need to ask your mother to please take you seriously, ask her if nothing else to bring you by say, the fire dept and ask them to check your blood pressure.

No often I am not "trolling" for chicks.

Im looking for advice on what the heck I should do about this.

Thanks collegegirl143

Yeah, she seems to be pretty smart.

I would rather talk on an IM though beacuse it just seems an easier way to talk to people than through a forum.

I only came here beacsue I figured it was the next best thing to a doctor.

Im sorry sweety :( It doesnt feel very good when people tell you are crazy does it?  Maybe you could tell your mom you just want to go in for a physical and bring it up then? or get a friend to take you? if you want to see a doctor, she really shouldnt try to stop you.. Do you have health insurance??  Carey also gave some good advice.. i hope you feel better soon

Thanks so much, I think it would be easier to talk on a messenger than this though.

Do you have any type of messenger?
yahoo, aim, msn?

Listen, I started a lifetime problem with anxiety that began with what you are describing.  It would be very, very , very,  very rare for there to be anything wrong with your heart other than you may be feeling a skipped heartbeat here and there.  And if that is what you are feeling it is harmless.  What I think you are experiecing is anxiety and panic.  If your mom doesnt want to take you to the Dr, try to get to the library and check out "Hope and Help for your Nerves."  Its a great book that will basically be like a "How to" book to fix those worries youre having.  Also, try going to   http://www.algy.com/anxiety/ib/index.php and take a look around.  Theres a section that goes over all the anxiety symptoms.  I'll bet you have many of them.  I feel so bad for teenagers who think they are dying and it just needs an adequate explanation of their symptoms.  I went through it many years ago and I understand how scary and frustrating it can be!  I know you'll start feeling better soon!
