shuddering heart

I am 49 and had put on a lot of weight i have now lost two stone with two at least to go.. i have been eating healthy and exercising regularly.. the trainer in the gym has me on interval training and circuit training and i spend one hour ten minutes in gym four times a week  and use fit ball at home everyday... I have high blood pressure which i only developed with the weight gain.. it is now ok and i take cardicor and amlid everyday... recently i have noticed after been in the gym about an hour later till the next morning i will have a shuddering heart which will stop me in my tracks.. i can actually feel it shuddering if i put hand on chest and i feel a little light headed.. i find this quite frightening but am getting used to it.. sometimes i still have it the next day... any suggestions of what it is and what i should do about it... its now putting me off going to the gym although i have not missed any days but i know what will happen when i go.. (what i mean by shuddering is like when you are starting an engine in a car and it shakes but you aint sure if its going to start and goes on for minute of so... )

We agree...see a doctor.  What would a positive acg test reveal that relates to the self assessment as posted?

I agree, probably heart palps.  There are so many different types there is no easy guess.  They have to be observed on an EKG to determine what they are.  If they can't be identified in a clinical settings you should be able to get something called a holter monitor or even monitor that you wear while you go about your normal life.  These will record the EKG when it happens which can then be sent to a cardiologist for further review.

I believe you may be referring heart palpitations.  You may want to contact your doctor and (s)he may provide an EKG that tests your heart's rhythm pattern, etc..
