slow heart rate @ 28 years old

slow heart rate @ 28 years old

I am a 28 year old female and I just found out I have a low heart rate. I went to the doctor on a routine checkup and they told me my heart rate was low at 44 bpm. When I went in I felt fine, but now I have been obsessing over it. As a result of that I have been really tired and lightheaded. I don't know if I'm really feeling symptoms or if I'm just scaring myself. I tend to worry about every little thing. I have high cholestorol and last year I started having high blood pressure. My blood pressure ranges between 120-140. So I guess what I'm trying to ask is should I go to see a cardiologist or is it all in my head? Also I have been on Toporol for a year now and because of my low heart rate they adjusted my dose from.50 to .25.

Why are you on Troprol?  What is your blood pressure bottom number?  You need to watch the low heart beat.  Take your pulse during the daytime or ask someone to take it for you to make sure that it is not dropping too low.  In the 40's is pretty low and I am wondering how low it drops at nighttime.  You may need to have a sleep study done to make sure that it is not dropping very low at nighttime.

My cardiologist put me on toporol because my heart would flutter every once in a while. He said to only take it when I get the fluttering. But after I had my last baby my blood pressure started to go up. It was normally between 110-120, but it started to rise to between 120-140. So my primary care doctor told me to take the toporol everyday. I have been exercising on the treadmill everyday for the past 3 months and before that I rarely exercised. So I don't think I'm that healthy. I also am hypothyroid and I've been on synthroid for about 5 years now at .50 mg. I still get up every morning and get on the treadmill and I feel fine. But around noon I start to get really tired, so I don't know if I'm having symptoms or if I'm just tired. I have been monitoring my pulse since they told me it was low and it gets as low as 40 bpm while resting, but if i move my arm or turn over it jumps to around 70 bpm( I have been using a heart rate monitor that you use for exercising and checking my pulse by hand). So any help or advice would be greatly appreciated
