Sorry. An advice column is a column in a magazine or newspaper written by an advice columnist (colloquially known in British English as an agony aunt, or agony uncle if the columnist is a male). The image presented was originally of an older woman providing comforting advice and maternal wisdom, hence the name "aunt". An advice columnist can also be someone who gives advice to people who send in problems to the newspaper. (wikipedia).
I probably shouldn't be so vocal about it but I strongly believe this is a bad idea.
Exploring other forums, Ed know what I mean, there are people that shouldn't be recognized at all but yet there they are at the top of the lists.
Agony Aunt is just a common term used for someone in the UK giving moral support for health or domestic problems. It comes from the newspaper columnists who had the title agony aunt. Unfortunately agony uncles didn't exist :) but, its never too late to start a trend.
In a sense we are all answering to the distressful individuals... agony aunt? I don't get it. I would rather be called an agony uncle:)
So in reality I am an agony aunt
The best answer is very subjective, and it doesn't matter whether the information is clinically accurate, it is whether the OP likes the answer and they would probably be more willing to accept an inaccurate account of the medical information if it is what they would like to hear and that to them is more helpful. They are relieved of their anxiety...
hello Dr Radio, would you like me to perform brain surgery on you? I can give you a nice tin hat to recover with :)
ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha....that's funny, Dr. ed. This whole new way of posting answers to our "suggested questions" is insane, but quite humorous as well :)
That's funny. And yet there's a box to the right that clearly says "top *** answerers." Whatever category where you talk a lot. Oh well.
I'm not saying Ed would do anything wrong but the possibility of someone else even innocently giving bad information and being believed because of the number of stars is huge. No matter what you call the system, Top answerers, or what ever... a bad system is still a bad system.
