my color doppler echocardiography report is as under.

study done in various views enlarged left atrium. pulmonary veins join LA.
inter atrial septum is intact. right atrium is normal size.
tricuspid valves is structurally & functionally normal. right ventricle is placed anteriorly &is normal MPA is normal.pulmonary valve cusps are normal.
mitral valve cusps are normal in thickness & excursion.
M.V. orifices area during diastole is normal. MV closure is complete.
aortic valve is mildly thickened with normal opening.
LV is enlarged with mild concentric LVH. segmental LV contractility is fair thus over all LVEF -64%.
pericardium is normal.
no visible vegetation/clots/intracardiac mass.
IMPRESSION:-
LA+LV++
mild concentric LVH.
good LV function. LVEF 64%.
no regional wall motion abnormality/ no clots / no pericardial effusion.

yes they are treating hypertension only.

They don't treat an enlarged left atrium, they treat the underlying condition that causes it. In most cases it's due to high blood pressure. Once treated the atrium can return to it's normal size. What is you doctor doing about this?
