Should I Be worried

Should I be worried?
Today as I was standing up my heart started to beat really fast and I felt light headed. This must of lasted for about 5 seconds tops and everything returned to normal (apart from my left arm feels light and strange, numb feeling)
Now I dont usually drink coffee but today I felt really tired so drank two smallish cups of black coffee back to back so this may of played a part of the issue.
Should I be going to see a doctor?
1st time this has happened (my heart did skip a beat about 4 years ago, while out partying)
I am 24 years old too.

Thanks

You may have experienced orthostatic hypotension which is when the blood pressure drops suddenly upon standing or sitting up too quickly.  As Jerry said, if it continues to happen or you get more trolling symptoms it would be worth mentioning to your dr.  Good luck!

I can not give a medical diagnosis, but I'd call it a "racing" rather than palpitation.  Perhaps you could call it either/or when talking with a doctor.

Thanks for the reply.

I will try to forget about it (These issues cause anxiety so its hard lol!). Am I right to think the symptoms are similar to palpitations?

I wouldn't be worried, in fact I"d try to forget about it rather than let my mind play "tricks" on me.

If it happens again, often, or has more troubling symptoms, see your doctor.

The coffee could have contributed.  I "grew up" drinking black coffee in the Navy and still I could get a "buzz" from drinking too much coffee.  I now drink about  2 cups in the morning, and no more.  I sometimes drink decaf if at a meeting where I drink coffee during the day.
