Cardiac Ablasion and high blood pressure

My father had a catheter ablasion surgery about a week ago, and ever since has been experiencing bouts of high blood pressure, wich he has never had before. It goes up and comes down- not steady high or normal. What coul cause this, and is there need for concern? I have not found any info about high blood pressure being a possible side effect of this procedure.

It has been noted on several posts within this website that high bp after post-ablation is a common side effect.  Terrifying but common.  Have him speak with the doctor.  I had an ablation in December 2008 and my bp jumped up and to be quite honest has stayed there.  But I also gained weight in the 6 months after that due to bp/heart meds causing extreme fatigue - causing lazybutt syndrome.  Try searching by tachycardia.

I hope this will help a little bit.

I have never seen any other reports of high BP following an Ablation procedure, I think it is a coincidence.   Keep a watch on the BP, if it remains high steps should be taken to lower it:  life style and medications such as beta blockers.
