At the time of my aortic valve replacement, my AF was few and far between. I had an episode every several months, and I was reverting pretty quickly on my own. It didn't seem much of an issue.
In fact, I had no episodes for nearly 11 months at one point -- and then I had one, which was a surprise to me. The next after that was 4 months later, again not a big deal and not lasting too long. Then, all of a sudden, in May this year, WHAM! I am having them quite often -- at least twice a week! Go figure....
Thak God I am in sinus today, as I have several errands to run.
But why they didn't do anything for the AF back then? No idea. It was never discussed. Ahh if I I only knew then what I know now, huh? SIGH
I know ablation will be discussed when I see the doc in a few weeks. In the meanwhile, my GP added digoxin to my meds, so I am on 125 micrograms, along with my 80 mg of Sotalol which I take twice a day. Will be interesting to see what develops.
I need to be ok come November when I am flying back to the States to visit family for 2 weeks. I hope this does the trick -- the "regular" cardiologist said NO to my request for amiodarone for a few months so I could get through this time AF-free. Ticks me off though.
Hope you are well -- have a great rest of the week!

Given your heart was "open" for a valve replacement I wonder why a "mini-maze" was not done. The mini-maze in the left atrium is specific to AF treatment. That said, I had a mini-maze done in Nov. 2007 when my Mitral Valve was repaired (luck me, it was repaired with a simple ring installed to limit the size of the opening). It did not cure my AFib... I was in NSR for about 30 days, then back to permanent AFib.
I'm not too happy about beta blockers either, they don't give me a headache, but I do have a lot of trouble dreams (trouble-mares) that may be related to the BB.
I'm not sure what a "T wave" is, I think a characteristic of AFib is a missing "P Wave"... I could look it up, but just don't have the time at the moment.
