Returning Skipped Beats

It has been a while since I have been on this forum.  I started having skipped beats back in November 11. In january of this year doctor ran some blood work and said all he could find was that my potassium level was a little low and should not cause the skipped beats but recommended having a banana and/or glass of orange every day to raise the level. I did that and for two and half months I no problems, thought all was solved. Now in the past two weeks I have noticed that about once or twice per day I am again experiencing a skipped beat. However, it is different than before in that it is only one beat, but when it happens I get a funny feeling, best way to describe is a momentary feeling like you would get if on an elevator and it begins to move. That kind of sinking feeling, where you momentarily feel yourself catch your breath and feel kind of light headed. This last for not even a second.  I am due to go back to the doctor for a recheck.  But now I feel as if even if the additional potassium in my diet is no longer working for me.   I am uninsured and I feel as if the doctor is hesitating at getting to the bottom of this, since I will be a self pay patient and would most likely need a payment plan to pay for any tests.
Is it possible that just a dietary change was really enough to treat this? I take enalpril hctz 10/25 once per day for mild hypertension. I am wondering now if Metoloprolol would be a better choice as I have read it can help if  you have skipped beats(palpatations/pvc's)  I am really discouraged at this point, as for those 2 1/2 months I felt really good, now I am back to waiting everyday to see if I will have another episode, or if it will get worse again.

Jerry,
I guess the better way to describe would not be sinkig feeling, but a momentary feeling of lightheadedness.  At that point if feels as there is a skipped beat, however, unlike before it is only one beat.I have gone back to monitoring my heart rate and rhythm, bpm is within normal range and rhythm seems ok.  I have increased the banana and orange juice, but boy can you get sick of banana after a while!
I am going to call in a day or so to make the follow up appt. I was to go in March or April but waited a bit as the office had made a billing error that I think I have finally got resolved.  I am hoping he can come up with something, I felt so good for those couple of months. Lots of stress in my life the past 7 months so don't imagine that helps much either.

Do discuss with your doctor and ask about a low dose beta blocker, metoprolol is a generic and cost about as much as a quality aspirin, not expensive.

I would increase my dose of potassium and see if that helped.  Say eat an extra (more) banana or orange.  There may be a supplement that would be more effective.

A occasional skipped  beat is very common, I'm not sure about the sinking feeling, but if the skip deprived you briefly of needed oxygen it could cause dizziness/sinking... I doubt one skip would do such, however, as oxygen levels in our blood don't change instantaneously with each heart beat, or not.
