Arrythmia worse when laying down

I am a 41 year old reasonably active female. I was diagnosed with some kind of arrythmia several years ago. I was put on a halter, had an echocardiogram and a stress test at that time but the cardiologist that I saw was too busy to answer any of my questions so I don't know what the exact type of arrythmia that I have. I was also told at the time that I was too young to have a heart problem (I was 27 at the time) and that it wasn't anything to worry about.

For the past year and a half I have noticed my arrythmia getting much worse, particularly when laying down. I saw the cardiologist once again and he sent me for a second stress-test. When I was attending the stress test, I told the doctor and the technician that the arrythmia was worse when laying down they still had me sit up and then later said that maybe I should have been tested supine. The tech said that I should probably be put on the halter again.

Should I actually be concerned that it is getting worse or is something I should not be overly concerned about? The rhythm often slows down rather than speeds up during episodes and is quite irregular. At this point I would say that I am experiencing episodes almost constantly when laying down and about 20% of the time while stnding or sitting (these episodes last for about 20 seconds).

I have never had any pain or shortness of breath associated with this condition.

I think you should be given an answer to what the cause of your arrhythmia is, for example if you have Atrial Fibrillation you should be on an anticoagulant.  In the mean time I think it would be prudent to take an aspirin every day, with a meal to help you stomach deal with the aspirin.
