Can a Head injury cause a stroke?

My father in law is a HGV driver and had a serious knock to the head about 4/5 months ago when some crates fell down and hit him twice on the head. 1 month ago, he suffered from a stroke, albeit a minor one, and i was wondering if the knock he had could cause that to happen? Thanks in advance to anyone who can help with this...

Thanks for your reply and information Jerry, what you said has helped anyway though, but  will look for other forums to post on as well, thanks again.

I don't think you are not on the right forum for the best answer.  Further, I don't know what a HGV is, but assume from your post it is some kind of a lift, e.g., a fork lift.

Strokes are to my knowledge caused by a blood clot reaching the brain.  An impact accident of any kind can cause a clot to form, and if it moves to the brain it will cause problems/stroke.

I am not saying the accident you describe caused a clot, I'm just saying it could have. This Community is populated by people, myself included, who have experience with heart rhythm problems.  I do not have any direct knowledge or experience with clot formation due to an impact injury, nor have I ever had a stroke.

I hope the stroke didn't cause permanent damage.
