Can frequent palpitations cause any damage to your heart?

I have celiac disease and anemia. Both can cause palpitations so I'm not exactly sure which one is causing mine. Anyway, I've been feeling a lot sicker a lot more frequently lately. I suffer from palpitations that really worry me. It feels so horrible, like my heart is going to come out of my chest! And the abnormal rhythms it causes really bother me. Are frequent palpitations hard on your heart? I recently had an EKG and it was normal, but I just want to make sure that I don't have a heart problem to worry about (on top of everything else) Thank you.

Hello,
I suffer from these annoying palps also.  Sometimes it feels like your heart is going to come out through your chest and land on the floor.  With no other problems like heart disease, or other heart related sicknesses, palps do nothing more than bother you.  In a healthy person palps in no way damage your heart, or shorten your life expectancy.  You will be just fine, and try to ignore them if you can!!!
