As soon as I was brought out of the lab I said I was hungry and they brought me the turkey sandwhich and a banana.
My procedures lasted close to 7 hours, so by the time I got to my room it was about 4:00. Dinner had already been served, so I got the standby turkey sandwich from the floor refrigerator....I was flat until 10:00p.m. I was determined to follow orders b/c I didn't want ANY problems : )
I just saw your post-thanks for you reply and a good laugh!
Thanks for your replies! I can just see myself now. If I'm told the abaltion was a success and I'm fine, I'll be too happy to eat!! Can't wait to join the SVT FREE Club.
i was allowed to eat within an hour of being brought back to the ward........picture this.......lying flat and trying to eat a grated cheese and onion sandwhich....not easy lol!!it tasted so good but sadly most of it ended up all over me lol!!
As soon as I was allowed to sit up a bit, they brought me the traditional (?) turkey sandwich before I was sent home. As long as you're alert enough after the meds wear off, there's no reason to avoid food. Even after my surgery which required true anesthesia, not conscious sedation, when I was able to stay awake and talk to people, they brought me juice and snacks.
I didn't have to wait 6 hours after the ablation to eat, matter of fact I was at home within 6 hours after my ablation. You do have to lay flat on your back for a couple of hours and then while you may have to keep your leg flat, I was able to sit up and I did eat. You will be so releived and elated when the ablation is done and you learn that all went well, you probably won't even think about eating. The nurse insisted that I order something to eat and I didn't eat a 1/4 of my lunch....I was just too happy!
