I am 43 and thought I was is good health untill my doctor asked me to get a echocardiographic done for a Murmur that he heard. So now I have had this test and paid a lot of money out and don't understand it all.
The last page says: Abnormal echocardiogram
Prolapse of the anterior and posterior mitral valve leaflets, with severe mitral regurgitation.
Consider connective tissue disorder, such as Marfan's.
Normal left ventricular enjection fraction (60-65%).
Moderate concentric left ventricular cavity size.
Estimater pulmonary artery pressure 51/18mm/Hg.c/w moderate pumonary hypertension.
Arch segments of the aorta appear upper normal with normal thoracic and abdominal aorta segments.
No prior echocardiogram available for comparison.
What's it mean in Laymans terms? And what should I ask my Doc at the next appoitment?
