I have no information on the UK, but think in the USA a echocardiogram runs about $600 US, so it is expensive, but not more than we'd pay to get a car repair. I have no idea what the private practice in the UK is, but I'd think as they are filling gaps in the government program they'd need to "market" somewhat on price, lower price. Hope so.
That said, the same situation exists in the US, that is some tests can not be prescribed for preventive reasons more often than some time interval. I'd guess echocardiograms must be 3-5 years. Again, I believe it is unlikely that the regurgitation problem is anything that changes rapidly, so the government provided interval may be more than sufficient. .
Thanks,
Will speak to my Dr about my experience and see what she says.
Got some prices from Rosshall.
The whole thing would come to about £400, prob similar will all private hospitals. x
I am from the UK, down in the West Midlands.
Maybe you could phone BUPA or if you have a group of private hospitals like we have down here called the Nuffield Hospitals all of which are private they may be able to help.
Go on line and do a Google search this may bring up some numbers for you to contact.
Regards
Tracey
