The thing that started me on the path to a-fib 13 yrs ago was ephedrine and pseudo-ephedrine as found (or used to be found) in Nyquil. The ephedrine I got from Metabolife, a diet aid popular in the 90's. I wouldn't touch that stuff with a ten foot pole now. I'm not sure but I think epinephrine might cause problems too. Just always check the ingredients on the bottle and if there's any doubt call your Dr.s office or at least your local pharmacist.
Yes, I am very new to Afib as I have had only one episode. I was restored to normal sinus rythmn in a local hospital after about 5 hours.
That was three months ago. So far I have not had any other episodes.
I know that many cold remedies have Phenedrine and/or other stimlulants and I am wondering if any Afib patients out there take Nasonex or Flonase wihtout any problems.
If you can associate in time the AFib with using either of the nasal aids, then I'd guess you may have the connection. I don't know anything about either, but many cold/allergy medications can contribute to heart rhythm problems...including AFib.
Here I assume you are not tin constant/permanent AFib. If you are, then you can't map the nasal aid with the episodes as they are constant.
This is something worth asking you doctor/pharmacist to see what they say. Also, read the precautions that come with the medications.
