Found reason for palps for pregnancy, postpardum, menstruation, menopause

by nikgirl28, Oct 12, 2007 03:20PM
Anyway, I've been suffering with palps worse after my two sons...especially after my second I suddenly developed SVT...PACs and Atrail Fib.  why are all these things showing up after months after my labor...when I've never had these heart issues this bad before...so I can across a condition called post pardum thyroiditis...in which your thyroid gland is affected during and after pregnancy...most cases only temporary...but your thyroid becomes infamed leading to hyper and combination of hypo thyroism...usually 3 - 8 months postpardum...and during pregnancy...and can even continue going until 2 years postpardum...hyperthyroism one symptom for this condition is racing heart most often afib...and mothers are often precribled beta-blockers until their thyroid becomes normal to calm heart and anxiety...and did you know that this could also be linked to postpardum depression...
Also, i got my thyroid tested...but you can get your thyroid tested and still have hyperthroism because your thyroid could be normal and the time of testing...u have to go for additional testing to be sure...
I'm sure this is linked to menstruation and menopause because around this time your thyroid acts up becoming inflamed and sending out too many or not too many hormones...
It all points to our thyroid gland that is causing these erractic beats...
Our hearts are perfectly fine...instead of getting our hearts checked we should be looking deeper into our thyroid glands...

Wow! Thanks for that information.  I have the exact same symptoms as you.  PACs, PVCS and afib post partum.  My thyroid tested normal also.  What are you doing for your symptoms?

You can actually get a at home test to test for thyroid dysfunction...u actually take your temperature every morning for a week and get results that way...
I don't really do anything for my symptoms...when I go into afib...i just wait it out and it usually lasts a minute...but it still scares me a lot...i get worried that it will go on too long and won't convert back...i hate it especially since I'm home a lot with my two babies and I can't focus on them when it happens...i kinda go into panic mode... :(

You're awesome!  Thanks!

What does temperature have to do with thyroid?  I've taken my BBT every day since 2002 (natural family planning).  I have quite a good record of temps :)

Yes it's so reassuring to know that our hearts are okay...and that we don't have a heart problem...but a thyroid problem...and thyroid problem are so easy to treat...some women develop hyper/hypo thyroism long-term after birth so if your heart is still going crazy years after it probably has something to do with your thyroid... i have symptoms of hypothyroism right now...and breastfeeding enhances that...some of the symptoms:
low basal body temperature
depression
weight gain or difficulty losing weight
lethargy or fatigue
dry skin and coarse, brittle hair
headaches
menstrual problems/ Infertility
constipation
loss of libido

You take your body temperature every morning with a glass theromoter for a week..above normal temp. hyperthyroism...below hypothyroism here is a website explaining
