Going around in circles...

Does anyone else ever feel like you're on a merry go round with your doctor's? if so, you know how frustrating this can be.  I thought I'd found a great new cardiologist until this last appointment which left me the most frustrated I've been.

I went in for my f/u after waiting over an hour on a Friday afternoon with my husband and kids in the car since I can't drive...I knew the kids were starving since was 5:20pm and my appt was at 4pm; but I was patient and curious what the new echo said.

He went over all the previous tests and said YOU"RE cured!...seriously just like that...I just gawked at him because I had nothing else to do being so stunned; he says good thing is; you'll get out of here in time for happy hour to celebrate (even though my cardiac cath said no alcohol).  I just couldn't close my mouth; thank goodness no flies were around lol

He proceeded to tell me Inderal LA twice daily has COMPLETELY cured me of my HBP since the echo showed  not alot of changes from the last 2 tests.  Then he says - You probably never had HOCM and the other dr's who dx you and implanted this ICD were wrong....he said my problem looks more like a long standing high BP problem; I just said ok - I wanted out of there.

After I gathered my chin off the floor; I politely asked for a copy of all the tests he did and left...ready to cry out of frustration over spending more time & money for another incompetant doctor who can't read or listen.

Obviously he never looked at my other records or what my medical history was and didn't see my BP didn't start being elevated until March 2011 or read the records that show I've been treated for low blood pressure and dx with Hypotension - my "normal" BP was 90/60 my entire life.

If he had read all 3 echoes I've had, he would see my EF was 55-60; went up to 71 and now back down to 60 in a few months time.  I had one done 7/6/2009; 3/17/2011 and 9/1/2011 they all show CLVH, elevated LVIS, valve regurgitations, and some pressure problems which makes no sense to any of the dr's I've been to.

I'm still waiting on CC to get back to me with an appointment with Dr. Craig Asher - the HOCM specialist for the fall...maybe then I'll get off this merry go round...sorry to rant/complain I know others are going through this too.

the other thing that makes NO sense is him saying my problem is probably from a long standing HBP problem yet I had no HBP problem until March 2011 and my first 2 echos were done before my BP started rising

I'm wondering what inflammation and HBP have in common and if the inflammation is causing the HBP which I've read can do vessel and heart damage; which may be the reason my EF dropped back down again in the past few months.

so I'm back to trying to find a new local cardio who accepts my insurance :(

I know what you mean; none of it makes sense...I have a "normally" structural heart and have a pacemaker/icd because mine "turned" maliganant? why...what happened...can anyone else have this and why, why not...I have HOCM, ARVD etc etc then I don't lol boggles the mind and really makes me wonder about what doctors really know and understand about arrhythmia's.

I dont even know what to say. At what point does even going to a doctor make sense?
I am beginning to wonder for myself, never mind with what you have been through.
