After my last heart attack (1/1/10) my IR droped from approximately 40 to 30.  Was prescribed ranexa , and cartizem (but not necessarily to improve IR)  I didn't tolerate these meds and have dropped them since.I have not had retesting which would check IR but over the past 10 years it has varied 10 percent with the increase in summer activity versus a sedentiary life style during winter months.  I haven't been told specificaly if increased excercise can increase IR but have noticed a corelation personaly. Please excuse spelling. I feel better today with some warmer weather and activity, and am on fewer drugs than prior to HA in the depths of winter.  Good luck, and please post on this subject if you receive professional advice on this subject.  I would be very interested in more answers to your question.

How did you get the numbers?  I believe this measure is usually (or at least can be) done by echo-cardiogram.  That said, I think the accuracy isn't extremely high.  Check that out before getting too upset.  That is you may be at 40 +/- 5 error rather than having undergone a big reduction if EF.

A EF of 45 is a bit low, and 35 is troubling I believe.  Do you have any diagnosed condition that would lead to a low EF?

To my knowledge there are no medications or exercise that will affect the EF.  Hope someone else has better news/experience.
