Heart rate

I'm overweight.  On no medication.  50 years old female.  I haven't been feeling "normal" lately, and have even had some pains in my left chest, so I just took my blood pressure at Wal-mart.  It was 148/53 and my heart rate was 63.  Would you suggest I see an MD or a Heart doctor?

flyin_mama,

That's a great screen name for you.....and now, it could even be flyin_gmama : )

Now, about that appointment.......It's time to make the call.   You'll get in there, talk to the doctor, and get back home to the new grandbaby!!!  Life is precious, so why not just double check on the BP?

Take care and keep me posted flyin_mama.

No, I do not fly, but my husband is a pilot...and he calls me mama (since our kids were little) thus...flyin_mama.
I haven't made an appointment with any doctors yet...I just keep putting that off.  I really do want to have a long healthy life...I have a new grandbaby!  :o)  They are the greatest blessing in life.
Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you...I'm not on here everyday.
God Bless, and thanks for the comment.

Oh yeah....the mammogram (a must)    I remember thinking how it was going to get easier.......I was WRONG!  lol......It seems it's always something.  Hope the appointment goes well and you have a long and healthy life ahead of you : )

Curious about your screenname - do you like to fly?  Great name!

Thanks for your advice...I'll try to get in to see a regular physician.  I may as well to the mamogram and the whole nine yards!  :o)
Thanks for answering me.

I would make an appointment with your regular physician.  You want to be sure your BP is not climbing.  Mine started to climb in my late 40's (after years of 100/55-60). Your doctor can readily check your BP and may suggest a dietary change, exercise and/or medication if the BP is elevated.  Sometimes, they'll check it over a few appointments to be sure it is not an isolated higher reading.
