Hi, I've had that happen in the past. Once only, thank goodness. I woke up in the middle of the night feeling something weird. So, I took my pulse.....there was nothing there. I tried the other arm, still nothing there. My arms felt heavy, cold and leathery (like that fetal pig we had to dissect in college). Needless to say, the first thought that went through my mind was that I was dead and wasn't this a fine howdy-do. So, I had a family member take my 'body' to the ER, where I walked in, they pointed out that I obviously was not dead and that my heart was just sending out a very weak pulse, but it was still beating and the tests showed nothing unusual and there was no explination for why it lasted so long and a lot of hidden grins.
I've had PVC's, PAC's and whatnots for 30 years. You do feel a missing beat or two or three. If you have had a work-up, and the doctors say all is okay, try not to worry. When I have a run of PVC's, I do get a hot flush at times (might be anxiety kicking in), looks great and gives color to my face and scares the you know what out of me, even after 30 years. Lately they are suddenly much more frequent and I recently went to the ER...all was ok. I am now trying to figure out why I get the heart lurch and no pulse/beat and why the monitors do not show this. Electrically, I am assuming that the current is still passing through correctly, but it might be such a very weak beat that it can't be felt in the pulse. Well, this was a wake-up, I may have just answered my own questions. I've got an appointment next week to 'discuss' this with the cardio. Anxiety, stress, worry can all make this worse.
Hope this little story helps. We belong to an elite group of people who are too in tune to our bodies and feel all these little things. Keep in mind that just about everybody has PVC's. And try not to keep the fingers on the wrist, it just adds more stress, I know that one well. So, now I'll pry my fingers off my wrist. Take care :o)
I just wanted to bump this to get some more answers. Is this just palpitations? Last night I was not feeling my pulse and just got this hot rush come over me for a second.
I get that feeling too sometimes when I get a pvc. I don't think it is anything to worry about if you have had your heart checked out. Try not to check your pulse when you are lying in bed. I used to do that, and I think as I was fading out to sleep I thought my pulse was getting weak too but it was just my fingers slipping away from my wrist.
