Although your responses helped me greatly for several days, I am once again scared. I know you all say what I am going through is normal, I'd like to know if what I am going through today, is also normal. Today I have, besides the normal run of palpitations, several times just had one big thump that made me short of breath and lightheaded for a few seconds. I also felt, I don't want to call it pain, but pressure, sort of like when you get a gas pain, in my chest at the times of those huge thumps. Please tell me all that is also normal.
Thank you all for the responses and info. It makes me feel so much better to know this is normal. Thank you.
I agree. Mine took about a year to settle down. In that period, I'd get short runs of SVT and have clusters of PVC's. 7 months after mine, I had a terrible week where any exertion would cause a jumbled rhythm of PCV's and what felt like SVT. I was thinking the procedure was a failure when it vanish and suddenly as it started and I was fine. I believe this is all part of the healing process. Be patient!
I agree with itdood, I had an ablation in October for SVT but I havent had any issues since then, but from what i read is not the norm. My cardiologist even told me I would experience an increase in skipped beats afterwards and to not be concerned as they would eventually go away. I've read and was told that it takes a good 6 months for the heart to heal and right now it's going to be jumpy and extra sensitive because it's wiring got changed and they burned a section of your heart. What you're experiencing is normal, try not to worry. You always ask for a follow up appt. Goodluck!
It takes about 6 months to measure the results of the ablation. Sometimes longer. The heart cells will be healing back and changing, this is normal and reported by a lot of people who have the procedure. What you're describing seems well within expectations of a normal heart. Even in a perfectly healthy heart with no ablation, heart rate will vary throughout the day. Having a meal can drive your heart rate up, nature did this to absorb the meal faster. Your heart is still getting these signals, since it has been rewired a bit from the ablation, it's going to feel different for a little while.
Sorry I can't offer any perfect advice. It's going to take time to see what your results are and any next steps needed.
