Heart Pains

Hi! I have been having a really heavy feeling on my heart area for months. It got really bad last night, so I went to the ER and had an EKG, Chest X-ray, and blood work done. The doctor told me everything was great, and that it is not my heart that is hurting. I just tried to do a little exercise though, and when I stopped, my heart was beating very loudly, and squeezing so tightly, like it was having trouble pumping the blood through. I have anxiety issues, and know that is part of it. Do you think that I need to get a Heart Monitor for a week, or a stress test? Or should I not worry about it, since he said my heart was great? Thank you so much!

Thank you SO much...your comment was extremely helpful...like spot on lol. I really appreciate you taking the time to write back, it means so much, and helped a ton. I had not heard of that term before, so now I am doing more research on that. Maybe I can find a forum to talk with others about that on. Thanks again!!!!=)

The doc is right:  True heart pain is not felt where most people think.

If your insurance will help with the cost of a monitor or a stress test, there is no harm in getting these things.  A baseline record is a good thing, actually.

However since you are aware that you are dealing with anxiety issues, you must also know that it will be difficult for you to accept that you are OK even if the tests show your heart is healthy.   ;-)

Catch 22, huh?

I think you need to educate yourself about an anxiety problem called 'cardiac neurosis.'. You can google it.
