I'm not buying the whole nicotine issue, are you?

1st off, best friend died from stage 4 small cell lung cancer after 8 yrs. of quitting cigs. Brother-in-law got stage 4 throat cancer and never smoked. My mom is 81 and still puffin. Tobacco grows naturally and most drugs are chemically made as are numerous products we come into contact with daily. These are far from natural. Sure anything is excess is going to harm you.

But smokes aren't really tobacco, they are a concoction of chemicals and don't really mimic a tobacco leaf.

I've rolled my own for over 13 years now and today even buy or grow leaves only for smoking.

Commercial cigs are probably death, but when?

Ablation success rates....I don't believe those either...it's a commercial market now.

Thou shalt not covet. Our lives are not our own. Our lives are already written, start to finish. Yes we have choices. It's the choices that make us who we are. I don't drink coffee (my Lord made the bean) all day, just in the morning to get the engine going. I choose natural tobacco to smoke not a quick chemical pack, it takes alot of time to prep and roll a natural smoke. I try not to excess in anything.

Death does not scare me one bit, infact I'm ready, bring it anytime. I am a 1%'er in Christ Jesus. I have given everything to follow him and I mean everything. This is not to brag but to explain that there are real people out there that have actually believed 100% in the word and can continue to prosper on this earth through his grace. I found the next level, the real deal. I still sin on occasion but I'm comfy in my shoes. The Lord will heal my palps in his time, not mine. They are not life threatening with me taking verapamil.

Caffine and Tobacco, the real deal, is not going to kill you.

jyant....jyant...(sigh)....a short story:

About 10 years ago I laced up the speed skates and fooled around the "Masters Division"; a nice respectful name for "the old guys".  I felt I was doing pretty good for an old guy, but there was one really old guy could blow my doors off. That old geezer was nearing 65.  I made it my life's passion to beat this old dude, but no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't do it.  This of couse delighted him to no end.  Finally after one session I I skated off and sat down on the bench feeling really dejected.  I asked my coach why I couldn't beat this old codger.  He calmly pointed to several dozen 40 and 50 something dad's sitting on their fat duff's watching their kids and said, you're better than all of them aren't you?  That comment really struck me and stuck with me even today.  Here I was looking at one guy, who had good genes, and a helluva great pair of legs.  I wasn't bothering to look at the masses, just one lone soul.

My point is, you pointed out ONE century old Frenchman, who puffed himself into oblivion.  Do you notice the nearly half million people in the US alone who'll check out from smoking related illnesses?

FInally, about 4 years ago, I watch my mother die at 78 from smoking.  It wasn't from lung cancer, but end stage emphysema.  She smoked nearly all of her life too.  Lung cancer would have quicker and less painful I believe.  I watched my mom die, taking last gasping breaths like a fish out of water.

If your not willing to quit smoking, if you're not willing to decaffeinate like you stated several weeks ago when we first met, how are you going to help you? You'll probably continue to experience what you're having now.

I choose to not take meds. I have some and only use it on a day when my heart just won't beat right or if I have annoying chest pain. Otherwise I let my heart dance. I just know my heart is much better now than it was before.

Yeah I'm all over that gene pool thang. If these palps is the worst I have to deal with, I'll take that.

They still have you take meds after the ablations?

Pretty cool you work with wildlife, me loves them, just had a skunk or cat eaten in front yard last night(coyotes), hair everywhere. I get to come face to face with our bears now and then. I watch the hawks that nest in my 100' eucalyptus trees. They fly down to my empty pool and grab toads in the little bit of green water....awesome....yeah I need a plaster job :)

I've heard stories like that but I think there is a genetic factor involved somewhere. Just as they're doing studies on a few people that have HIV but for some reason, their own bodies are keeping it from progressing to full blown AIDS. The gene pool seems to be a cr@p shoot. We get what we get. For some reason I'm fortunate to have a sturdy immune system. I don't have allergies, I rarely get sick other than the occasional sniffles for a couple days. I don't get flu shots (gasp!)  Even with my goofy heart rhythm I'm in excellent health. I have no idea why. I'm not an organic/vegan type of person. I just choose a balanced diet and stay moderately trim and active.

A Frenchwoman named Jeanne Calment was a lifelong smoker. She began smoking at age 21, and she smoked up to the age of 117.

There is soooo many people who smoked well into their 90's and above.

Around there I will think I have had enough :) of life anyway...all gravy after that.

I quit smoking 15 years ago after 20+ years of smoking 2 packs a day.  I've never felt better because I can take a deep breath without coughing.  I dont care if you grow it yourself, or you are smoking something else.  Whatever you continue to force into your lungs will eventually kill you in some way or another.  Just my 2 cents.

Agreed, none of us can live in a sterile environment. But we can be informed as you say.

We need to be vigilant in the products we use and eat as more and more are coming from China who has less quality controls then we do and as the US bends, no breaks to corporate lobbyist.

Who knows, maybe we're in some routine where we are being exposed to some pesticide in a park like setting and get palps? If Doctors can't tell us, the answers won't just jump out at you.

Change it up !!!

There are so many toxic substances in the world that we live in. I agree with that. But it's difficult to find a pure food any more. Grow them in your yard? Sure, but what's in the soil? All we can do is be informed, be aware and finally realize none of us are going to live forever. Some folks are risk takers and just don't care. That's their choice. I don't know how long I'll live but I'll do what I can to make sure my health is as good as I can make it. There are still some things that are out of my control.

Oh and don't stop there. In the US alone we consume water in plastic bottles that stretch around the globe 170 times per year. Got BPA in your blood? yep you do ! It's toxic baby and has shown to cause heart issues in women. It lines soda cans too.

How about the clorine your drinking in the tap water daily?

Look around, change it up, get rid of dem palps !!

HEAL your heart.....................

God bless your dad. He lived a long time and was living proof that smoking may not take you out like a bus could anyday.

I am certainly not saying that people with heart defects ahouldn't try ablation. What I am saying is there is plently out there that can harm you, even milk, just read the studies.

I'll say it again, why rush to ablation? The procedure is so new that there isn't even any long term effect studies done. There still argueing about success rates.

Take the time to taste a home garden tomato, or a farm buddies fresh sausage or beef. You can taste the difference, what we eat today can't be good for us either?

One more thing: have you ever seen real lungs? Ever seen a set of healthy lungs laying on the table next to the lungs of a smoker. I'm not even talking about lungs with cancer. Smoker's lungs are pretty gross looking. There has to be something wrong with that.

As for milk that you just mentioned, it's primarily meant for cows. But yes, there is calcium in it so at least it has some redeeming value. No, I'm not a big milk drinker.

As for arrhythmias, sometimes there is a cause and effect. But some of us are just born with a wonky electrical pathway in the heart. Whom should I blame? My mother? There's no need to place blame. Just find a way to deal with our less than perfect bodies and go on.

I don't think we can blame illnesses on any one factor. That's too simplistic.

My Dad smoked for 80 years. He had 4 heart attacks, congestive heart failure. But what finally got him was lung cancer that had spread all through his body, even into his bones. Was it the cigarettes? Was it his poor diet? Who knows. But our lungs are made to process oxygen from the air to nourish our bodies. So I can't see where inhaling smoke of any kind every day would be helpful.

It's funny how doctors today say get off the cigs but never say anything about, hey don't drink milk.

Man are they not informed, milk has nothing valuable for you...nothing, yet you freely grab it like it does the body good.

Start looking at your life and not what is claimed as a quick fix ablation.

There is a reason you have palps...cause and effect !!

Oh and I've been smoking for almost 40 years...long from dead here. And I've been healthy most my life, never really even had a doctor until I decided to lose weight.

I'm convinced the majority of these heart issues are enviromental issues.
