I was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder a couple years ago. I've had a lot of tests done to make sure nothing was physically wrong with me, they haven't found anything. I'm on 10mg of Prozac, 1.5mg of Klonopin, and 37.5mg of Atenolol (to regulate my heartbeat because I would get a lot of heart palpitations [hard, fast heartbeat, skipped/extra beats] from the anxiety). Since being on this combination of meds, I've been much better.
However, on Tuesday, I made the dumb decision of drinking more alcohol than I should have while on all of these medications (had 5 or 6 beers). On Wednesday I woke up, was having some palpitations, took my meds, and felt better for a little bit. But then after taking a three hour nap, I woke up and was back to getting lots of extra/skipped beats, especially with the slightest physical activity (even getting up and walking, or changing positions, or even just taking a deep breath could cause it).
This has not gone away since Wednesday. I guarantee this is not anxiety. As I said earlier, I've been much better since I found the right cocktail of meds, and I'm not feeling very anxious or having panic attacks, even with these frustrating palpitations. I have an appointment on Monday. I guess my question is, what could one night of drinking have done to me? Why would I still be feeling the effects of this days later?
