Multaq (dronedarone)

Has anyone had success with this drug?  I understand it is a safe alternative to amiadarone!

As I mentioned above, I started taking Multaq on September 1 and had three brief episodes during the first month. But since that time, I've had no episodes and have been able to resume my exercise program and run 4 plus miles at a time with no problem. I've had no side effects. I plan to stay on it till next Fall and then see if I can stay in normal rhythm without it.

I've been on Multaq for almost two months now. Started when I was in normal sinus rhythm, and it's kept me out most of the time. Three episodes lasting 12 hours, 24 hours, 36 hours but none for the last three weeks. No side effects, and I read that it's safe, but it's a new drug so I'm cautious about taking it long term. Then again, my afib does not bother me that much--no rapid heart beat, only some shortness of breath and inability to exercise. I'm most concerned about keeping it from becoming worse.

I have been taking Multaq for one month, it has not stopped the Afib but seems to make it easier to spontaneously convert to NSR.  Doctor wants me to see an electro-physiologist but I will resist ablation or pacemaker for now.  My problems with LAF go back for 53 years but lately have become more frequent and sometimes scary.

Yes it is supposed to be all the benefits of amiodarone but without the very toxic side effects Time will tell but for now I am happy with it.

Hi I have been on Multaq now for going on 6 weeks. The initial month we waited to see if the medication would on its own convert me to NSR it didn't  I still was in A Flutter with a resting HR of 135BPM so  I recently underwent another cardioversion. It was only needed to use the lowest voltage to convert me which was very unlike my past 8 times. Since then just about a week my heart has been in NSR with a resting HR of 69 BPM which isn't too bad for a slightly overweight 57 year old male. I look forward in to now being able to restart and exercise program of light weights, light jogging, and cycling. Miltaq was my third arrhythmic medication I took varying dosages of Sotolol and after failing that I went onto Tikosyn  (dofeidilide) and that only lasted about 60 days. I was anxiously waiting and watching for this drug to be blessed by the FDA and as soon as it became readily available I started taking it, in fact I believe I was the first in Connecticut to use it. So now I am waiting to see if it continues to hold and live up to my expectations but for now enjoying life and renewed energy levels.
