44 with good health/heavy heart for a week

I am a 44 year old woman, 2 years ago I had irregular heartbeat and micro valve prolaps was diagnosed - no history of anxiety and only health issue is mild asthma.  For the past week I have been feeling a king of pressure around my heart - it worsens when i lay on my left side - i do feel some palpitations - last night and today it feels worse and i am unsure if that is due to me thinking about it constantly and being nervous that i could be leading to a heart attack- can you ease my mind?  I have been getting overly nervous with the election and job market - am out of work but do not suffer from financial strains??  Could I be bringing this on myself?

You didn't say if any action/concern relative to the valve prolapse, is this condition under treatment?  If the prolapse isn't severe, I believe it isn't considered a problem, and I read mitral valve prolapse occurs in about 10% of the population.  I had a leaky mitral valve for years.

It is also clear we can aggravate health symptoms with our minds.  Try to relax, breath deeply, focus thoughts and activities on things that you enjoy and then see how you feel.  A visit with your doctor seems in order too.
