It can be very scary when our hearts do things they are really not supposed to do but I have been assured by my Cardio that this is nothing to worry about. I have several different ahrrythmias so I don;t recall the name of this one right now (and b/c its v early :-) but I beleive what the Cardio told me is that this is just your heart pausing and restarting its normal rhythm again! I know not very reassuring but they tell me its perfectly bengign and harmless. The Cardio tells me everyone gets heart ahrrythmias occasionally but only some of us lucky ones (LOL) get to feel each one. Don't worry but if you are concerned go see you DR, I'm sure he'll tell you the standard, no caffiene, no chocolate and lay off the stress and calm down. Hope this helps, Have a palp free, calm day to all.

Hello...
What you may have been experiencing is something called a Premature Ventricular Contraction (PVC). During a PVC the areas of heart muscle are stimulated in an abnormal order; the ventricles are stimulated first.
Because the route of electrical stimulation is not normal, the impulse does not pass over the ventricles in the regular, organized way. The result may be a heart beat that is less effective in pumping blood. In addition, since the PVC comes early, the left ventricle is not properly filled, so the cardiac output from these premature beats is lower than a normal sinus beat. If one feels the pulse at the wrist in someone with PVC's, the premature beats might generate a noticeably weaker pulse, or sometimes no pulse at all.
Many times, following the PVC, there is a pause before the next sinus beat. When someone notices skips in their heart beat due to PVC's, they may notice the premature beat itself or the brief pause that follows it
For people who are not afflicted from heart disease of defect, the usual cause is one, but not limited to, the following: elevations of adrenaline, increased thyroid levels. Alcohol, caffeine, nicotine, cold meds containing pseudoephederine.
These are usually a benign condition. If you notice an increase you may want to schedule an appt. to have this evlaluated. Best of luck to you:)
Thank you so much it makes me feel better. I was just wondering if it was normal. You guys cleared it up. Have a great day :)
