People w/ SVT/Sinus Tachy, do you have caffeine, if so, how frequently?

My doc said no caffeine. However that never was what triggered my episodes before so I'm wondering how I should proceed...

Before i was diagnosed with svt i always started my morning with a couple cups of coffee and drank it if i had to work an overnight shift. Even while i had episodes (i didn't know what i had i thought my heart would just spaz out for a minute) i still drank my coffee and tea. After i had a major episode i was told caffeine, alcohol, smoking were all triggers which i did every one without a problem. I didn't quit any of those things until i got extreme anxiety after being diagnosed and having more episodes. After my ablation i quit every thing and now after 6 months I'm easing into decaf things and soon the occasional drink. My doctor always told me those things were possible triggers but if it's never triggered it for you before then just do it in moderation and know the facts. Everyone's different and if it's never been a problem i wouldn't worry. Just know it is a possibility.

The issues I had with caffeine were always delayed.  I stopped it altogether in 2009 and I don't miss it at all.  Things improved for me since being off it, but I have no way of knowing if it was eliminating the caffeine or was it something else right when I stopped it.  All I can say is, I don't miss it and I cannot go near it now.   I had it by accident at a restaurant when I ordered decaf but they gave me regular.  I hated the way I felt, I wanted to jump out of my skin and it made me anxious.

I seem to be the exception.  I don't need it.  I have good consistent energy throughout my day and I sleep well.  I workout in the mornings, this is key as I learned that working out in the evening delayed and hurt my sleep, which gave me energy swings during the day that I would treat with caffeine.   My advice...If you can normalize your sleep and make your day consistent, there should be no reason to need caffeine.  Caffeine is one more risk factor you can eliminate.  I recommend a layered approach...don't just make one change, focus on the big picture and implement good habits.  I've seen people decide to stay on beta blockers so they could continue to consume caffeine, this is a recipe for more trouble.  All medications (caffeine is just like a medication) have side effects.  Treating the side effects with more meds leads to even more side effects.  It spirals.
