Hello, I am 29 y/o male, 5'10" 230#, with high blood pressure, which I take Lotrel for. I also take prilosec and a multivitamin daily. In the last week, I have had a very high resting pulse rate, usually 120-140, even with a normal blood pressure reading. Walking around the house, or at work has left me hyperventilating, with my heart racing, When i lay down I can feel it pounding. I went to a local 24 hour clinic over the past weekend, and had an EKG, chest x-ray, and blood drawn to test for thyroid and other problems - but they all checked out ok. This feeling will not go away though. I have been under a lot of stress with job hunting and finishing my Ph.D. but if it was a panic attack I'd be surprised because it's constant (the pulse rate never gets below 100) and it only gets worse when I move around. The suggestion from the doctor the other day was to head to the ER for more tests if it did not improve. Is it time to heed that advice, or perhaps return to my normal MD? What are some issues that could be causing this problem?
