Something triggered your high HR. From what you say I assume it was over 200 bpm, otherwise you should be able to time the rate. At 200 the HR is an average of 3+ per second and hard (impossible?) to count. A heart monitor would be able to count it I believe.
If the high HR doesn't come back you should be alright, I think.
Have you had a full physical lately, one with an electrocardiogram (EKG)? If not, it may be time. This can be done by many primary care doctors... from that it may be clear if you need any special checks by a cardiologist, such as an echocardiogram or stress test.
Hi MageeCeg
If you really worry, I will suggest you reserve a time to do cardiovascular ultrasound.
I have not found my heart disease until 30 something, for past years I just know I don't like exercise, because I feel terriably uncomfortable/ irregular heart beating after it, or can't stop the fast heart beating...so on , i also get fainted several times in life.....all the symptoms I ignored in past life, until once I have really shocked I get fainted again in a hot bath (what an embarrasing status? luckly, I wake up myself after.... 10 seconds probably. I don't know, I can't see my watch and count:))).
All my friends told me it is dangerous what if i didn't wake up myself and none found me in bathroom? So I go to the cardiologist and have my heart checked by ultrasound, and found the problem- MVP.
Anyway,best luck to you
keep updated here, hopefuly everything alright, and don't have to come back here to check further questions. Heey
Best wish
