SVT and Smoking weed

I am not 100% sure if this is what its called... But I have SVT and I am wondering what effects smoking weed has especially the negative ones.

We are not experts here on "smoking weed", you'll need to look elsewhere.

But, we all know smoking anything is bad for your health and especially bad for you heart.  Recommendation:  stop smoking.

You didn't say how you know you have SVT, was it diagnosed by a doctor?

I agree w. Jerry we aren't experts on smoking weed but...............from everything i've read it slows the heartrate and that may not be good for SVT i'd be honest and talk to your heart doc on this one....remember he/she cannot break HIPPA laws or speak about this to anyone patient/doc privilige....all i know is i'm going for the gusto here and to fog my mind w. weed is not the way i want to go when i do...but hey to each his own and who am i?  I guess just someone who care's about everyone on this site!!!

try the search engine up top and see what others say about smoking etc and what effects it has on them.

I've read quite a few about MJ and palpations/cp etc it does have an adverse affect on the heart, or so the people who can positively pinpoint that's when their palps/pvcs  started.

There's so many different things that can affect the heart and cause arrythmia's - try process of elimination and see if they stop, if they do, you know it's probably smoking that caused it, or could be a mixture of components - smoking and anxiety; caffeine, foods etc can all be a deadly combo.

Do this for yourself while you're young and before any damage can occur.  If you don't, you may end up like me - at age 42 with a huge azz ugly scar (5 inches) across my chest, 3 heart surgeries and a pacemaker/defibrillator implanted just to keep my heart beating; because of a stupid decision I made and listened to my dr to take medication [Phentermine; which is an amphetamine] to lose weight.

Sometimes even with prescription medication, it can cause major health problems later in life - the decision is yours and yours alone, all we can do is to share what we know.

if you're prone to tachycardia i suggest you stop weed immediately,
because weed increases the demand for oxygen of the heart it makes the heart pump faster.

My partner has confirmed SVT and had a history of WPW until operated on and just about everytime we smoke a joint maybe once a week she goes into SVT some only lasting a minute or so some upto 10 orf so minutes

Why on earth are people smoking weed when they get arrhythmias from doing it?

I'm a 19 year old male about 150lbs and I've had act for almost 3 years now. Been on metropolol and smoked weed.. no problems. Not on that medication anymore because it caused depression so now I am taking flecanide and verapimil(hopefully soon getting off those) and smoke on a regular basis. Once a day at night just to get to sleep one bowl in a small pipe sometimes two at most. Have had no problems and every time I get a check up with my cardiologist they say everything is looking fine. I don't know if the medication with the weed is good or if it is making my condition worse in noticeably but as of right now I have had literally no problems with smoking while having svt and being ON medication. I have no idea if you will be ok smoking weed while having svt and being off medication.
